With a highly immersive setting and first person viewpoint, Prominence is a point-and-click science-fiction adventure that offers players a chance to explore and discover the secrets behind a unique and mysterious high-tech facility.
What begins as simple exploration soon twists and turns its way into an evolving mystery that is revealed through physical clues, audio recordings, data archives, and a damaged central computer system in need of repairs.
This is an incredibly polished looking (and sounding) Indie project.
Awesome little concept from Increpare. Make sure you have the sound turned up.
I hope they take the concept further. It really sucked me in. In a way that probably makes no sense at all, it gave me the same feeling of intrigue and excitement I got when I first played Portal.
The object of the game? Exactly what the title of this post says. Good luck getting back out.
Minecraft is a game where you mine stuff and make it into other stuff. In Survival mode, which is mostly what the people who are talking about it are talking about, it’s a single player game set in a vast algorithmically generated landscape of beaches, mountains, and plains. Everything in the world is made of blocks, and every block can be “mined”, which will remove it from the world and convert it to a resource the player can use.
Great first hand account of getting to grips with Minecraft…
Survival mode is so-called because making it through your first night is an act of courage, ingenuity and luck. Minecraft‘s day cycle is ten or so minutes long, and as the sun sets squarely in the sea, and the stars prick through the sky, the nightlife turns nasty.
I you are curious about the breakout Indie hit, and want to know what it’s all about, and whether you want to invest the time in exploring it’s cool world.. this is the article to read.
We hadn’t given much thought to who would play Dolphin Hero; we just made it. This was a big mistake. Dolphin Hero earned just $300 in its first 6 months on the App Store, but we persevered.
Spoiler : Things works out for them in the end.
Moral : It’s all about planning, hard work and marketing. Oh and a million other jobs that probably never occurred to you.
Lots of cold hard facts, and painfully open figures in there too.
The idea is to walk around the gorgeous plains of this strange world, exploring and occasionally building stuff and shooting people. If you’re clever and jump on Teamspeak or the like, you can talk to friends, give each other co-ordinates, then meet up and roam the land together.
The utter geekiness of the Love MMO, coupled with its glorious pastel rendering engine has given it a special place in my heart.
Next time you’re investigating an app (which if you’re at all like me will always be sometime within the next 24 hours), take note of what aspects of its website irritate you. There will almost always be at least a handful of annoyances. Then go and take a look at your own app’s site.
Iron Sky is a movie produced by several people collaborating from their computers all across the world. Needless to say, it’s not coming as fast as sci-fi fans would like, but it is coming.
This is what collaborative computer projects are all about. Can’t wait.
If you want to help out…
